Uncover, Honda, MassMutual, Scotia to Sponsor NHL’s Realigned Divisions for 2020-21 Season

The National Hockey League is set to return to the ice Wednesday, Jan. 13, and it will do so with realigned divisions, each with its own sponsor.

The divisions were rejiggered to minimize travel during the pandemic, as well as to account for the ongoing closure of the border between Canada and the U.S.

The divisions for the NHL’s 2020-21 season, along with their sponsors, are:

  • Scotia NHL North Division: Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets
  • Honda NHL West Division: Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks, St. Louis Blues, Vegas Golden Knights
  • Discover NHL Central Division: Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, Tampa Bay Lightning
  • MassMutual NHL East Division: Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals

The league said that each team in the MassMutual NHL East Division, Discover NHL Central Division and Honda NHL West Division will play each other eight times, while each club in the Scotia NHL North Division will clash nine or 10 times.

The NHL also opened up voting for the 2020-21 NHL Preseason All-Division Team Fan Vote.

Fans can go here through Jan. 11 to select six players for each division team—three forwards, two defensemen and one goalie—and share their picks across their social platforms with the #NHLAllDivision hashtag. The league designated candidates for each position.

The results will be revealed via the NHL’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts prior to the start of the season.
