Ronald Ng joins MRM as International Chief Artistic Officer

Ronald Ng is leaving Dentsu International's Isobar to join MRM as Global Chief Creative Officer.

According to an MRM spokesman, he's not directly replacing anyone. At MRM, which is part of the McCann Worldgroup network, Ng will be based in the agency's New York office.

Ng joined the Digital Experience Agency Isobar two years ago after working as Global Chief Creative Officer at Digitas. Prior to Digitas, he was Chief Creative Officer of BBDO Singapore.

At Isobar, he helped the agency achieve “the most successful Lions festival in Cannes to date” in 2019. At the festival, Isobar Netherlands won six silver Lions for Volkswagen's “Road Tales”, an interactive audio book for children that uses location-based data to tell stories. The campaign was launched to encourage children to look outside instead of staring at a screen while driving on the road.

Isobar's Chinese office took home a golden lion in the Creative E-Commerce category for Pocket Stores, a campaign that created KFC virtual stores in the WeChat Chinese app.

Kate MacNevin, Global CEO of MRM, said in a statement that Ng is an "incredible talent with a passion for creative technology and a record of innovation that makes him the perfect global creative leader for MRM."

According to MRM, the company has "significantly expanded its data, analysis and technology capabilities" in recent years. Jayna Kothary was hired as Global Chief Technology Officer in August.

MRM has helped create e-commerce platforms for brands like Fruit of the Loom, Spalding, and Kendra Scott. It has also worked on campaigns for clients such as Nespresso and Santander Bank, for whom it created a short science fiction film. The film won a Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions in 2017.

"We're betting a big bet that MRM will become even more important to the McCann Worldgroup in the future, so adding the highest quality talent is the number one priority," said Rob Reilly, McCann Worldgroup global creative chairman, in a statement. “But you also need this talent to be incredibly inspiring and a really good person. Ronald is the gold standard when it comes to this rare combination. "
