Instagram: how you can use selfie stickers in tales

Instagram recently added the ability for users to create selfie stickers that can be used in Stories posts and direct messages. These selfie stickers are not static pictures, but animated GIFs. Our guide will show you how to create and use selfie stickers in Instagram Stories.

Note: These screenshots were taken in the Instagram application on iOS.

Step 1: When you've taken or uploaded a photo or video in Stories, tap the Stickers icon at the top of the screen.

Step 2: Tap the “Selfie” sticker.

Step 3: You have several options that allow you to create multiple selfie stickers. For example, you can create a generic selfie sticker that shows your real-world background, or you can replace your background with a colorful layout by tapping the camera window before taking the sticker (if you keep tapping you can also choose between color and switch black and white versions of your face). You can also create emoji-themed stickers by tapping the various emoji under the camera window. For example, if you tap the Heart Eye Emoji, it will put hearts over your eyes before making a selfie sticker. When you're ready to take a selfie sticker, tap the record button under the camera window.

Step 4: If you want to use the selfie sticker without saving it for future use, tap the white circle with the black arrow. If you want to save the selfie sticker so you can use it more than once, tap Save Sticker.

If you selected "Save Stickers", your new sticker will appear in the "Saved Stickers" section. Tap on it to add it to your post.

From there you can rotate the sticker, resize it, and drag it across the screen to best fit your post before sharing.
