Havas New York appoints new inventive chief
Havas has a new Chief Creative Officer in its New York office.
Havas New York hired Dan Lucey for the role after creative director Harry Bernstein left in October. Bernstein – an Adweek Creative 100 winner for 2019 – also founded and ran Havas & # 39; Kreativberatung Annex88. Lucey joins Havas from the independent New York agency Joan, where he was an Equity Partner and Executive Creative Director.
According to the agency, Lucey's hiring reaffirms Havas’s commitment to delivering focused work across its client list.
"At Havas, our mission is to make a meaningful difference to brands, companies and people by creating impactful work that takes into account the significant behavioral changes we are seeing in today's marketplace," said Laura Maness, CEO of Havas New York Explanation. "Dan has an exceptional ability to develop modern platform ideas that connect and resonate with the culture – and he shares our ambition to be one of the most collaborative and comprehensive creative leaders in business today."
An industry veteran of over 20 years, Lucey joined Joan as the first equity partner in 2018, where he helped set up the independent agency's creative department and led work on the General Mills account. Prior to joining Joan, he was Executive Creative Director at BBDO New York for over six years, where he led creatives at Foot Locker, Guinness and Priceline while working at Bud Light, FedEx and HBO. During his tenure at BBDO, he was recognized as the 2015 Adweek Creative 100 Prize Winner.
At the beginning of his career, Lucey worked as Art Director at Saatchi & Saatchi and as Creative Director at Goodby Silverstein & Partners.
Lucey's arrival follows a series of recent investments in Havas agency culture and people. In recent months, Havas hired Claire Telling, CEO of Grace Blue, as the first Chief People Officer in North America and appointed a DEI Advisory Board in North America.
"It is clear that Havas New York continues to be very dynamic and at a tipping point with its winning formula of being value-driven and value-driving," Lucey said in a statement. "I look forward to nurturing creativity and craft throughout the group, diversifying talent and leveraging large-scale entertainment and culture through Vivendi's unique ownership structure to create audience engaging content."
