According to recent research by Fractl and SEMRush, search volume increased for a range of marketing tactics between January 2019 and October 2020.
Search volume estimates were based on anonymized clickstream data provided by third parties.
An infographic (below) made up of charts examines how search volume for terms related to various marketing goals (increasing brand awareness, increasing traffic, etc.) has changed over a period of 15 months.
The researchers found that terms related to the outcome of backlinks building increased and then decreased over the period studied, while interest in goals such as strengthening brand authority and improving search engine optimization increased more sustainably.
